So many people here in the UK can’t manage 3 days of somewhat unpleasant heat.
Sure, I would like to cool my house down a bit when it’s hot. But no I don’t want to spend any real amount of money on it.

Has me wondering how I can cool my house cheaply, overnight only dropped 0.5c on the thermostat. It only warmed up 2c during the day yesterday but I need to be able to get rid of that heat somehow for the next day!

Might need to start using an indoor paddling pool to dip my feet into to keep cool if it ever gets that high. Official temp where I live is barely ever over 30 but I am pretty sure it’s a lot hotter on the ground. My heat pump was reading 39 today in the sun, almost free hot water I suppose.
Also wondering about DIY cooling options. Underground is pretty chill right now. Went into a bunker and it was lovely and cool inside. Might be worth digging a nice big hole in the garden?

Would need to be a fairly cat proof material, the chicken wire does that pretty well. But need to be able to open/close the window behind it too so need to find a decent option for fitting it there. Sticky back velcro is a tempting option.

How do you staple it to the PVC frame of the window without making a mess?
Could consider sticky back velcro and chicken wire tbh. No chance at the cat ripping that with his claws like he can with the net curtains we have currently - which he can get behind, they don’t keep him back as they are only attached at the top.
Not sure how well it would bend repeatedly to open/close the window behind it each day.

What is it made of? We have net curtains that he likes to use as a climbing frame and often get ripped after a while with holes more than big enough for him to fit through. He gets told off but still does it, on some windows more than others.

So hot… My living room is now up to 25c, was 23 this morning as I am struggling to cool it much overnight.
Can’t open the windows much as our cat is an indoor cat. Had an idea to put a fan in the room to pull air in through the barely open living room window and push it out through the back of the house, back window open slightly and bathroom/kitchen windows open more but behind closed doors.
Keeps the cat safely in the living room/back room and hopefully will reduce the temperature more tonight. Not the strongest of fans but overnight does give it a lot of time to work with and it’s only small openings.

Suppose I do this too, just that my budget is always zero

Used to live near this and could see it most days. But fuck me the weather yesterday is not the time to be moving a shitload of bags of chalk.

Toilets are not sex restricted places in my experience, most toilets are for people with trousers and people with skirts.

Pretty sure suicide was the main cause of death of millennials at that age. Might still be although older millennials are getting to a point where obesity related heart problems might start to overtake it soon.
Look around at the highly individualistic society we have built. Is it surprising?

Its got so bad lately. I remember as a child when sports games were on I didn’t see any, then in my teens/early 20s I didn’t watch anything and watching something recently its just endless and so in your face.
Turns out they allowed gambling advertising in 2007 here.

And now those people are the ones crying about fuel prices while I don’t give a shit because I don’t even want it.

To keep my carbon footprint low I dont buy from oil companies

People should be eating more beans, good source of fibre which almost everyone is deficient in.

Time to get rid of single sex toilets as people can’t be trusted to use them anymore

Absolute numbers are not great for this, how does it compare to the general population? Like are we talking rounding error or 50 times higher?

How do they even manage that, is there no filtration at all for the water supply or have they been pumping dirty water back in - which shouldn’t be allowed even if it was clean.

No idea, looks painful to run it on Linux so I haven’t bothered trying.
I hate this average family unit of measurement. I don’t use that much energy, almost no one does. Tell me how much it is changing per kWh instead, the units I am actually paying in.
