Modpacks are just a list of chores to do with no real sense of overall progress. I’ve tried a few and always have to learn the systems through wikis, not the game. They involved so much learning that I decided I would just code and do side projects because at least that’s more fun.

It’s missing a lot of QoL features in vanilla but people spend a lot of time curating the perfect set of mods for their server. It’s too much work for me but it’s an autistic person’s wet dream.

I doubt anyone can actually calculate a line of best using ordinary least square linear regression by hand with no mistakes but no one’s crying about that. LLMs are just the next generation of calculators and programs.

It’s also one of the most nitpicky whiny places you can visit. A new open source software/update just got released and it does something cool! “Well it’s not {x} compliant so it’s trash.” Or “If a solo developer or a team decides to use ‘AI’ then their entire project is AI slop.”

There are so many moments where I’m like “just shut the fuck up and enjoy the software/news/updates these strangers are providing for free.”
