  • The super generic frozen dinners and prepackaged shit have become cheaper than cooking things normally where I am unless your going straight rice and beans or buying in massive bulk.

But for a single person even with meal prepping and freezing stuff. I end up with too much food spoilage to cost ratio at this point. So I can’t even do bulk buying with out losing too much to spoilage.

My meals basically have become cheap canned foods and frozen generic brand slop. With rice. Everything with rice.

Now can rice stop going up too. My store can’t even stock enough it’s always sold out. And my God the price of fresh veggies destroy me. So only frozen bulk veggies.

  • Its rather common for non Americans/Canadians to get hyper judgemental and slightly racist or xenophobic when Fahrenheit gets used around here. Its just one of those casual racist things you get use to in an international space on Lemmy.

Lot of Americans arnt use to how much casual racism is thrown around because we are too use to being the largest group and our idiots being the one throwing it towards others.

Its also just far more socially acceptable to be racist and xenophobic towards Americans on here for obvious political reasons at the moment.

Most communities iv come across also just flat out don’t punish it from what I’ve noticed or punish it a lot less.

  • Fundamentally there’s no difference between a chart you made and asking ai. The problem is you’re not attempting to retain the information.

The upside to the chart is that it doesn’t rely on someone else providing you the means to your informational resources.

The problem isn’t AI makes us dumber. It makes it too easy to be lazy. If you actively try to retain the information that you are gaining and putting into practice from AI and not just letting it do everything for you. Then it’s no different than any other resource. Be it a shit you made on the wall or some shitty ass Reddit thread from 9 years ago. That has one dude with that answer.

Informational resources are only as valuable as your ability to have access to them and your willingness to retain the information so you don’t have to keep going back to your informational resources.

What AI does make you worse a is learning how to quickly and efficiently reference material. You become beholden to the AI to provide you information. Which is slow tedious and needs to be double checked half the time.

Honestly, the worst part of AI is the fact that it’s removing and delaying access to informational resources. It’s actually the same reason I personally hate discord. It’s unsearchable it absorbs information and hides it away and makes everything tedious and less useful.

AI is functionally just a walled garden of information. Instead of letting information be freely shared, you are putting public knowledge behind a paywall.

But stupid people never once attempted to retain information from a book chart or anything else. Anyways. So functionally they are as stupid now with AI as they were before without AI.

  • Dude outside of the technology difference. We are at a point most surfs in feudalistic societies had less problems to deal with then we do.

Like when you start accounting for betterment in medicine and farming alone. The avg joe would likely have a less stressful life under feudalism. Most people just want to be left alone, work an honest job, and have time to raise a family or at least spend time with them.

The problem is not that they’re trying to turn us back into a feudalistic society. They’re trying to turn us into a corpitocracy or an oligarchy. While, a feudalistic society can have a lot of the same similarities as an oligarchy or corporatocracy. They tend to be far more for the people and fair.

Feudalism would unironically be an absolute ideal outcome if we had to choose between the three.

Is at least in a feudalistic society. The farmers would own the their own land and there’s not much the big corporations would be able to do about that. It would actually elevate a lot of farmers in large landowners onto the same playing field as the big businesses that have a lot of money but not a lot of land.

If anything it would put them at a disadvantage cuz now they would have to fight an uphill battle to gain more land that they need to expand for these data centers.

Ideally we don’t go to any of them lol

  • In a perfect world this means that closed ecosystem operating systems. Like windows, Mac and android. Who have an unfair amount of control and power over their customer base. Will be held to a higher standard by the law.

Since the potential for abuse is higher with windows or android then say arch or fedora.

That increased control should come at a downside of increased responsibility. There’s nothing stopping Microsoft or Google from releasing control and becoming more transparent in theory.

So if everything was in magical fairy land. This sort of enforced liability would push software towards more open standards with less burden of responsibility on the creators and more responsibility on the user.

Since really that’s where the responsibility should mostly be. It should be the user or parents of the user who decide how a system is used. And it should be the users responsibility to ensure they are adhering to laws and regulations.

  • That’s the sort of logic that results in you becoming miserable and living alone in the woods.

The amount of shit built off the backs of theft is endless. Ai is not new to that. The entire crux of this logic is flawed. I hate ai but I also am educated enough to understand that if I tried to cut out every product, good and service that’s built off the back of theft, slave labor, murder, war, etc. I might as well just throw my self off a cliff.

There’s functionally nothing that isn’t build off atrocities. That’s unfortunately how basically much of humanity has progressed.

Just accept it and move on. You can’t stop awful shit from creating new things. So enjoy what little time you have on this planet. And don’t fuck yourself over just because you have the icky over something dumb.

There’s plenty of things ai related to be angry at. Some idiots selling generated book slop is not one of them.
