It’s almost like humans have existed for thousands to millions of years longer than large civilizations or something.

Games@lemmy.world•Destiny 2 is dead: "active development" ends next month after one final update, but Bungie says the MMO will still be "playable"English
31·3 days agoNot exactly. Did you play the first seasons? Basically every dlc there were items you’d farm to buy gear (or something it’s been a decade now and I forget) that became completely obsolete when the next dlc came out.
Most rpgs you can sell those items. But in Destiny you had to delete them.
I played tf out of MMOs. It wouldn’t have stood out to me if it was at all a typical experience.

4·3 days agoI bought the Destiny PS4 when the game launched. I knew I was basically signing up for World of Halocraft and all the bs that comes with it.
But what did surprise me was how poor the execution was. Every single DLC made all the previous gear/items COMPLETELY USELESS.

8·3 days agoFair enough.
I personally don’t think anyone with the capacity to become a billionaire still has a conscience with which to regret or introspect.
Meanwhile based on my reading of history, exiling/imprisoning oligarchs works in their favour in the long run.

19·3 days agoIMO capital punishment is only violence if it’s done to the working class. If a judge and jury, after due process, sentences a billionaire to death that is justice.

Personally I think culling the entire Epstein class and dragging their corpses until every major cities’ municipal boundary can be seen from space would send a more effective message.
Dip them in liquid nitrogen and christen their yachts before we scuttle them.
Hang them by their feet from a crane and see how many it takes to demolish a data center.

6·3 days agoI love old RPGs but they’re too grindy for me now or something.
Like I bought the Final Fantasy Tactics remake. Original is easily my favorite game of all time. And a HUGE Quality of Life improvement the remake added was the ability to fast forward the gameplay and the cutscenes (IYKYK).
Every time I try to pick up my 2nd all time favorite FF6(Snes) I find myself losing interest after my 10th random encounter. I like the story, the characters, the music(!), the puzzles/exploration. Defs not bored of the game, haven’t beaten it (again) for like 15 years now.
But the gameplay itself, sadly, just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Like I burned many hours on my gameboy colour playing Dragon Warrior. Can still hear the music for Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger in my head. So it’s not like I never liked the genre.

I asked what the paid benefits were vs the free version. Everything you described is in the free version. Hence why I’m not sure why I ever paid in the first place. I don’t think I ever used any of the paid features.

This is a nice “outside looking in” perspective on ADHD. I don’t wanna rip on it cuz it comes from a good place.
But.
Maybe Modern History… but IMO even Little House on the Prairie is only showing a fictionalized thin slice of lifestyles back then.
Neurodivergent people are the reason humanity survived this far. We’re the ones that learned the patterns of the animals to hunt and the plants we cultivate; Which mushrooms killed john last week and judy last year.
Light/sound/smell sensitivity… that’s the makings of a hunter/gatherer. Advanced social que reading… that’s communicating with people who don’t speak your dialect. Hyperfixation… well that’s just tool/garment making fuel.
I highly doubt non-autists discovered metallurgy like Bronze & Steel.
