Germany's domestic intelligence agency has reportedly chosen a data analysis system from France, instead of US-based Palantir. Civil society has welcomed the move, but says more must be done.
“The real problem is not where the software comes from, but the logic behind it: namely, the automated merging and scanning of massive amounts of data by an intelligence agency.” Bünger, referring to relevant rulings by the Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht, BVerfG), advocates for clear legal regulations with strict limits and effective oversight. “Otherwise, fundamental rights are violated,” she said.
