    Possible…

Global sea surface temperatues have been significantly higher than average for the past few years now. And that’s when El Nino hasn’t been on board.

Global air temperatures are basically at record levels now. Again, no El Nino on board.

Arctic ice is at a dramatic record low. Again, no El Nino on board.

So a strong or even “super” El Nino? Strap in. 2027 is going to be the scariest year so far, by far, re: climate change, in human history.

The most helpful thing, for me, is to realize that we still have an absolutely utopian existence compared to the vast majority of human history.

It’s scary, yes, but life has kinda been always scary. There will still be good things for a long time yet.

Some little kids die from cancer. I could get hit by a car and killed by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. All things considered, we are pretty lucky even if the future is truly bleak.

Don’t worry about it, it won’t be really bad until a couple of generations.
And if we get self accelerating global warming, it won’t just be humanity that dies, but all life on earth. Because earth will become like Venus.
So in a sense we win, and the joke is on life in general.

Alternatively we could reduce pollution, but there are simply too many downsides, like clean air and better health and future sustainability, who the fuck wants that? Also I just bought stock in an Asthma company, and clean air would probably tank that stock.
I think we should stick with what we do best, which is to destroy the earth to make money. Profits are good my friend, profits are very good.

So much of what I’m doing right now - getting more income so I can build solar and reinsulate my house - it’s all to brace for the next couple decades of climate change. I like it hot, and biodiverse, and I’ll get one of those wishes.

Record global temperatures is not a possibility, global warming makes it inevitable, if not this year, then soon after, and then soon after again, and again and again…
It was a bad idea to change from calling it global warming to climate change, because the truth is it is global warming, and morons that deny that, shouldn’t decide it should be called something else to not hurt their feefees.
