I bet that any extension of EU would come with demands of reform, to prevent situations like the ones Hungary and Slovakia created to prevent help to Ukraine. Also to have better legal tools when a member state brakes regulation, that undermine their own democracy. Like we have seen in for instance Hungary and Poland.
And that is going to be a tough one, because it cannot be done without member states losing a bit of rights as independent nations.
I trust we will find a balanced solution, because EU member states generally recognize that this is necessary, and we need EU to function now more than ever.
At least for foreign policy we should stop having veto and start having a qualified majority.
The Scottish and Irish should have join us already!
Ireland already joined. Scotland can’t since they’re not a sovereign nation. Might be one if the SNP get their way though.
