Unreal 2, which is a very boring singleplayer game. But then, a year after its launch, they released a multiplayer addon for it, and it’s still the best multiplayer FPS I’ve ever played. Most people remember it as “that disappointing, singleplayer-only sequel to Unreal.”

Also, VR Troopers, a fighting game for the Sega Genesis. OK, in hindsight, this game is actually terrible. But we played it all the time in elementary school. I mean, it had the VR Troopers in it! From TV!

Chess. Fuckin’ a, no new characters for like a thousand years now. One map. Small children can beat me. Shit’s trash.

Great review! I’ve been curious about the Insurgency games for a while, but it always seemed like a difficult game to get into for a casual player like me. But it sounds like it’s enjoyable for new players if they have the right group.

I did play the Insurgency mod for Half Life 2 back when that was a thing, and I remember thinking it was a lot more hardcore than Counter Strike. I’m glad they had success with the full game releases.
