  • You’re the naive teenager if you think that covering up hundreds (thousands? more?) of rapes and probably at least a dozen murders will produce anything other than extreme hatred in the vast majority of people.

Yeah, in general, yes, it would be nice if people were more empathetic to others generally.

But wanting bad things to happen to completely corrupt people who’ve committed unfathomable numbers of crimes, who are fairly likely to suffer no real consequences for this?

    Completely normal.

    In the words of Diogenes:

In a rich man’s house there is no place to spit but his face.

  • Most of the software industry uses contractors for most things, just, in general.

Here’s an example of that not working so well: Halo Infinite.

They hired a bunch of contractors to build the engine.

Contractors contracts are up, they do… something else now, somewhere else, who knows.

Now that the engine’s done, give it over to the artists and gameplay developers and… oh. Whats that?

    Its confusing? Has bugs?

Uh well uh… the code is ‘self documenting’, right?

Hire some other contractors to fix the engine!

    … etc.

And that’s basically how Halo Infinite happened.

Remember when somebody figured out that like, the loading screen, was re-downloading the same image, like, 400,000 times?

Remember how like local split screen co-op does exist in the game engine… but… you can’t have it… for some reason?

    Good times, good times.

You basically could not come up with a stupider way to try a design a complex piece of software if you tried.

But, retaining actually knowledgeable employees and their knowledge that their managers didn’t realize was important, well, that’d mean they get full benefits, and fuck that, so instead, lets double or triple development time (and cost) and release a half baked product.

    Genius.

  • The ‘good’ news is you might not live through the next one.

    Food.

Yeah our entire modern agricultural system is basically a process of squirting refined oil into the ground and then food comes out.

    Drive up the precursor cost?

Well a whole bunch of that process breaks, and that’s not even considering the oil burned to move things from one place to another.

Even if you solve that problem: Climate’s broke, ain’t gonna fix it at this point. That’ll fuck up food production massively as well.

Population control (culling) via food prices doubling or tripling every few years, and the chaos that results from that.

They’re hoping enough of us will die before we actually try to eat them.

I suggest making what stockpile of edible reserves you can now, keep cycling through it, eat a bit of it, replace more of it, etc.

We got the worst el nino in recorded history, AMOC is currently giving out, as is the ‘doomsday’ glacier… and roughly 1/5 to 1/4 of the world’s oil just stopped, it’ll take years to recover from the damage thats already done.

Everything that has happened so far will be a footnote compared to what happens next.

  • Yeah, the whole plan is to have every US citizen’s 401k’s autobuy into the SpaceX IPO.

Your retirement fund is Elon’s exit liquidity.

    Its a truly fantastic fraud.

Because… the Nasdaq… well a few weeks ago it changed its rules on the delay time between an IPO and it being part of the index, the index that everyone’s 401k’s buy into.

I guess you could say its going to be ‘epic’ when this all blows up.

See this is basically how the us economy works:

Poors roll over negative equity into their next car loan.

The ever diminishing ‘middle class’ basically does the same with homes, helocs, etc.

The owners roll over debt via corporate amalgamations.

But because the rich have a magical legal barrier of ‘all the bad and dumb things i do are a legal fiction doing them, not me personally’, well, the legal fiction gets what its due and/or evaporates when it can’t pay what it owes… and the rich remain on top.

    Yeehaw!

  • Tucker Carlson is a man who, with a straight face, has repeatedly told multiple people, on camera, that he went to sleep in his bed with his 4 large dogs, and woke up with scratches, after feeling s pressure on his body…

… and he concluded this was demonic attack.

I think at this point the alcohol is taking its toll on Tuck.

Oh and of course when Fox News got sued by Dominion Voting Systems, its came out that Tucker absolutely despised Trump, while he was fluffing him up every night, and fluffing up his viewers with leading questions that feed into or generated conspiracy theories.

… Lately he has ‘asked’ if Trump is the AntiChrist.

And then a few weeks later, he denied that he said this, despite… there being video, of him… on his own show… that he published… saying that.

You can only possibly take Tucker seriously if you are either extremely religious, or basically have brain damage.

  • In fairness to contact sports / martial arts, when done properly, they can be significantly less dangerous, teach discipline and respect, instill a sense of realism and proportionality regarding the application of violence, keep you in decent physical shape, provide your life with a routine structure, and provide some real world socializing/social group.

Many also come with some kind of a philosophy that stresses self defense and essentially a ‘duty to retreat’ mentality: violence is always the last resort.
