1·3 days agoThank you for clarifying!
So plastic use is standing on the shoulders of fuel production. Interesting to imagine what materials could emerge as the next default when the prices are not offset by waste disposal needs.

One point is not clear to me though. Are the benzene amounts from fuel production sufficient for all plastic manufacturing or are they in short supply nowadays because of the risen demand for plastic? Or are they just shifting around their processes to be less fuel optimized to create enough plastic precursors if needed?

3·3 days agoI think that the crew shouldn’t be held accountable and are victims themselves. So they should be treated with kindness. But in light of this case of course that is more likely to happen than seeing any real consequences for people in charge.

4·3 days agoWhat it did not do, explicitly, was grant Tesla the right to use public or private property for wastewater conveyance. The drainage district that manages the ditch the pipe was discharging into was never notified that the permit existed. Its workers found out the way drainage district workers in any small Texas county find out about things: by walking the ditch and seeing something new.
If the discharge permit is a good thing or a bad thing for the environment is another topic. But right now this seems to be the only legal issue in the room, right?
At least one that implicates Tesla. The people that permitted them to discharge and didn’t include relevant pollutant values in said discharge are
having a bad dayenjoying their private yacht.

1·3 days agoIs it all made from byproducts or are some plastics made specific from a batch of crude that is refined in a specific way to yield lots of a specific molecule that is needed? I am seriously asking since I dont have a clue.
As in: us there always e ought waste to create plastic no matter what? As long as we refine car propellant, that is.

51·8 days agoSo what are you using and recommending?
Interesting question. How is it with traditional FM am in the us? In Germany (and I thought more country’s) DAB is taking over. While it is still broadcast it has lowered to bar for smaller players. But You still have to pay for a slot you can broadcast on. Although you just send a data stream to the actual broadcaster.
With the Internet being a thing for a while I am asking myself why you would run a broadcast channel (FM am dab) anyway. High cost in equipment, licenses and energy are a high barrier for normal people. And if You have a cooperation behind you then you won’t have full control over content.
So why are there still normal stations around and even new ones popping up? Because we have these receivers in our cars?

1·15 days agoYou don’t know where I started. You know that I asked that question. It is not where I started. I thought about the implications and why technology is not the issue but the application of said technology. Also that acceptance or tolerance by a society comes into play.
I couldn’t figure out what their angle was for blackmail was because you need one to be successful. So I asked that question.
It is not victim blaming, it’s asking about circumstances I am not familiar with since I couldn’t be there and see for myself. I can’t read minds you know.
And by the way the saying that only a person willing to do something wrong can be conned could be a nice angle for blackmail. If you catch a person doing something wrong makes them vulnerable. I KNOW that somebody would use footage of that to blackmail somebody.
AI didn’t come into play here for me until somebody pointed it out.
So take your tool out of my bag and relax.
