Well, I’ve come to think that my grandfather probably had adhd. He had a reputation for being somewhat lazy, he played in a Jazz Band and played multiple instruments. He also tended to work half the year down in Florida building homes and then came back with the money for half a year up north doing the stuff he liked to do.

He probably built some of the homes during the Florida housing bubble in the twenties.

To me, that sounds very ADHD-like. Granddad was born in the late 1890s and passed in the early 80s. He was also known for surviving the Spanish Flu, walking several miles to the hospital.

I think some of the other comments here are probably spot on, and of course they would have family to fall on for a little bit of help with those things they have trouble with.

And just a few days ago, the official jobs data showed fewer layoffs, more hiring, and lower unemployment claims.

At what point will somebody in the business media pause and say, “Hey, Wait a minute!”?

The feds have obviously been cooking the books since last October at least. They fired the professional staff in July for “tying to make the president look bad”.

I guarantee if executives start losing jobs, it’ll suddenly be a national existential crisis. Of course that will never happen as they choose who to fire.

I fell like the Republicans have been doing this since 2002, and somehow can’t get it passed even when they own 100% of the federal government.

It’s as if they want to be able to get elected on useless causes and never implement them because they want to get elected on useless causes (repeat, no exit case).

The fact it is unused is the increased cost. If it were fully utilized, it would be a justifiable cost rather than a waste of resources.

The lower rent point is one of the problems. Many of these businesses own the real estate or lease for many years at a time. If the space is 70% unused, that increases costs and looks bad.

Haven’t read it yet, but I’ll share my instant reaction to the headline.

“Oh, now that it is hitting the management, finance, and business jobs, you notice it? The people who kept you all in business (I.T., software engineering, etc.) Who’ve been fired constantly for four fucking years don’t count, do they?”

The truth behind the why has little impact on the fact the layoffs have been constant since 2023. Some charts show tech jobs declining since 2019.

People can’t wait around while companies circle-jerk. They will move on, crash into poverty, or retire. People in college will stop learning the theory and mechanics. The labor force will evaporate - just the way it happened in manufacturing.

When hiring begins again, it will be a rude awakening. Those who still can do the work will command even higher wages.

The real issue is the comparative lack of charging stations and the duration of the refill. There are solutions being worked on now.

Those of us who like to road-trip and camp have real anxiety about range and charge availability.

I started using Joplin some months ago, and am having a similar problem with note overload (where did I put that note?).

I am now trying out the PARA method, and have high hopes it will mitigate (not solve) the problem. Search it up, it might help.
