This is the tyranny that 2A is intended to prevent by the way. Not for people to cosplay and walk into public buildings to try and incite a response

The 2A was never about preventing tyranny. It was more about murdering native Americans and putting down slave rebellions. Read the discussion at the time the amendment was proposed.

I’m kind of proud of not being very american but only 9 people will get a chance to kill supreme courts and be real Americans and I know a lot of people try to be so I’m sad they don’t get to

MAGA Republican Supreme Court OKs GOP Republican Overthrow of American Democracy

I’m so fucking tired of people acting like this is a Trump/MAGA thing. Republicans wanted these things, Republicans voted for these things, and Republicans enacted these things. John Roberts has wanted this since before he was appointed and other GOP justices, appointed pre-Trump, have helped the push for this. It took all of the Republicans support to approve everything that has happened every step of the way - just a few votes against could have stopped it at any time.

Trump just did everything less subtly and did a better job inspiring racist shit-stains to rally support.

I agree with the sentiment. Every GOP voter and politicians owns this completely.

But I suppose there is another explanation, which is that associating MAGA with all levels of Republican activity may help the average low-information voter understand that the GOP they grew up with is gone, and there is now only MAGA. I don’t know what method is better.

the GOP they grew up with is gone, and there is now only MAGA.

I guess I want to be crystal clear that, as far as I see it, the GOP they grew up with is the same GOP. They might have been more subtle, more slow and methodical, but nothing else has changed. Most of the GOP reps in Congress have been in Congress long before Trump and they’ve wanted to do this for a long time. As many Supreme Court Justices that were not appointed by Trump have been in lock step with him… and Roberts has wanted to eliminate the Voting Rights Act since before he was a judge.

What’s different now is that the GOP has their backs against a wall - they know a substantial majority of voters are against them - and the Trump has normalized shamelessness so there are no consequences to breaking rules and norms in order to hold power.

The supreme court is illegitimate. Stolen seats, political games, and a fully corrupt system are what it represents. The chief justice is getting rich off insider deals his wife gets due to his position, the black guy was bought for a trip to epstein’s island on an oligarchs yaht and fucking RV bribe. A bunch of the new judges were appointed by a political stunt, one of them is a rapey edgebro with connections to the fucking federalist society who took millions in bribes tied to paying off gambling debts. We’re so fucked, time to overthrow a non representative government that no longer serves its citizens.

This court very much appears to be the actual problem rotting the country from the inside out. Too much over reach

Stop listening to the illegitimate court. It has no power. Republicans have broken all the rules of our democracy. Why is anyone listening to them?

Taking fundamental rights against people will always get those making the decisions killed. These people don’t realize they are publicly saying, your life didn’t matter to us. So don’t blame the people when they treat you the same.

Its not MAGA … MAGA just happens to be the suit they are wearing now. When the shit hits the fan and the suit gets covered in it they will just throw it away.

I used to believe that we needed to add 4 more SCOTUS seats, but I no longer believe that. Now I think we should add 20 more SCOTUS seats.

The distribution of the court shouldn’t be so tight that one bad faith president can negatively influence policy for the next half century. We need a court that’s too big to game with a few seats, along with term limits, and rolling election dates. That way, every president gets to appoint a few, but not enough to distort the results.

Suppression is absolutely American, the only reason it is the hegemony it is is because of suppression of Blacks, Native Americans, Central Americans, Middle East Asian.
