The order by U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema of the Eastern District of Virginia blocks the Trump administration from “taking any further action” to set up or operate the fund while the judge hears additional legal arguments.
Sounds like it’s temporary while they work on a case to make it permanent.
Because the judge has not formally determined that it is illegal. They have only found that there is a high probability that it is and that allowing it to continue will cause damage. These proceedings have to occur carefully lest an appeals court overturn based on a technicality alone.
Why temporarily? It’s so blatlantly illegal.
