The Trump administration has deported over 4,300 Cubans to Mexico, many of whom are older people with serious health conditions who had been living in the United States for years or even decades. Many are left stranded without access to housing and health care. Those who cannot access protection as refugees are trapped in a permanent state of legal limbo.

    Easily the worst diaspora in the entire country in terms of how toxic and corrosive it is to national politics.

    By the numbers, there’s probably more douchebag Irish Americans, but the only diaspora that could come even close to being as harmful would be the Iranian diaspora, specifically the supporters of the Shah who came after the revolution.

    So this is wrong, it should not be happening, but I can’t think of a demographic that would I feel less sympathy for.
