US Sen. ++Bernie Sanders++ on Sunday rallied in Orono, ++Maine++with progressive Senate candidate Graham Platner, who called for transformative political change to reclaim the ++wealth++that has been “stolen by corrupt politicians and the corporations that bought them.”
Platner, who effectively locked up the Maine’s ++US Senate++Democratic primary after Gov. Janet Mills ++exited the race last month++, placed five-term incumbent Republican Sen. ++Susan Collins++ among the corrupt lawmakers who have sold out ++workers++ and advanced the interests of the billionaire class, which is ++shelling out millions++ to protect Collins’ seat.
Meta Question: what’s with the
++…++surrounding all the links? Is that meant as some sort markdown formatting?Looks like AsciiDoc syntax. It’s used to escape URLs that have special characters. None of these URLs actually have special characters, so however it was generated must assume that it might.
They’re all doubleplusgood.
They’re all the same rank!
If he does a Fetterman, can he be quickly recalled?
I’m not USian so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m pretty sure federal representatives can’t be recalled. They either serve their term, resign, die, or get kicked out.
Has he ever apologized for serving in the US military?
Alright, who’s gonna be the smart guy to call him a rich boy or a secret Nazi? They’re definitely a Maine voter too, always is.
I wonder about them using terms like “oligarchy” and “fascism”. Is that going to work with the swing voters or republican base? Do they know what those words means or does it sound too much like the academic elite using fancy words they don’t understand?
Americans are getting screwed left and right. It shouldn’t be hard to shine the light on oligarchs like Bezos and Musk with good messaging.
If he wants votes, this is the language to use.
If he wants to pander to the rich minority of voters who support fascism, he could go Democrat, water down the message, and loose like Hillary and Harris.
Is that going to work with the swing voters or republican base?
The DNC leadership hyperfocusing on those (the former of which is an ever-shrinking sliver of the electorate) rather than their own base is how they lose easily winnable elections against fascists.
Do they know what those words mean
Since they’re using them 100% correctly, it would seem they do.
or does it sound too much like the academic elite using fancy words they don’t understand?
It seems more like you’re spreading anti-intellectual talking points and/or are the one who doesn’t understand.
