  • LOL! Best Tupperware party I went to (this was 1990) saw me driving home afterwards and noticing a bright glow about a mile down the street from my home. Picked up the husband off the porch (he saw it too) and we drove to the block before what was a HUGE fire at what used to be a hot dog factory.

It was glorious and seeing the propane tanks catch on fire and vent from their domes on the tops of the tanks (they’re made to do that, it’s a lower temp metal that melts so the gas vents and burns off and doesn’t explode the tank) - white hot flames that shot easily 80 feet straight up into the air and sounded like jets taking off… So cool.

I did pick up a freezer storage set that has outlasted every other Tupperware set I’ve had. Still have most of it.

  • Here’s the rub of it: you know what the issue is, and where the chemicals are likely to be found and you can make sure your friends and that family which you want to protect can also know what to avoid. As much of it as you can.

PFOAs are all in the water where I live, a consequence of having a SAC air base (now decomissioned) in the next town over and for most of the time it was open, there was NO environmental concerns for the shit that got dumped in the ground. My father, who was an airman in 1962 and stationed at said former base, often was tasked with doing the dumping. (he always told me to be mindful of the water when I moved here in my 20’s) People ask me why I drive (quite a distance) twice a year to go get almost 100 gallons of fresh spring water form a VERY isolated source. The water where I live is unpalatable and is heavily treated. Often stinks like a municipal pool. On those days, I will opt for a PTA bath instead of a hot steamy shower. Testing of the city’s main well a dozen years ago revealed what I’d been warned of decades prior… (ofc it’s the most contaminated one in the area…)

At this point, I am firmly convinced that this is 100% a move by the Trumpists and their monied enablers to gin up as much disease in the population as possible. There is no one single sector of the economy as large as the Medical Industrial Complex and it’s driven by the rapacious maw of greed and nothing else.

YOU BET that the current administration sees the public as nothing more than a resource to be mined of all it’s capital and then left to die. After all Trump famously “loves” the poorly educated, and to double down on that, he’s also stated that “Smart people don’t like me…” (Gee… ya’ think?)

There are enough poorly educated so they can feed for decades… and they will. This is where they start in on it seriously.

Time for the smart people to be stepping and fetching like never before.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

  • Uh huh. Within four years, mostly. That is how long the chemical frisson takes to wear off (and coincidentally, how long it is to fully wean a child) and then the hot sex goes and so does the marriage.

I had SO many girlfriends that I saw go through this EXACT pattern. Here I was the last one married, watching them all get hitched (thinking there was something wrong with me) and then came the kids and then the divorces and then remarried and a few hitting a second divorce. I’m like WTF, I got tight with my best friend first, then we became lovers and finally got hitched 7 years after we met. 35 years later, he is still my best friend first and foremost. He kicks my ass and keeps me on my toes. Drives me up a wall and I love it.

It’s about finding someone you do NOT have to fuck 24/7 that you like so much, that once the sex goes (and it does, if we’re being honestly blunt about it) you still are crazy about them, and they are about you.
